Renowned Flamenco Troupe to Perform in
Upper Keys
ISLAMORADA, Florida Keys – Clarita Filgueiras brings her
internationally acclaimed Flamenco dance company, Flamenco Puro,
to the Coral Shores High School Performing Arts Center on Tuesday,
Feb. 3, at 8 p.m. as part of ICE’s Upper Keys Concert Series.
For the past 25 years, Filgueiras has performed throughout the
United States, Latin America, and Europe appearing in prominent
theaters, nightclubs, and on television. Her performing credits
include dancing with the Gypsy Kings as soloist and performing
with Placido Domingo.
For several years, she was lead dancer, soloist and instructor
for the New York City/Madrid-based dance company Carlota Santana-Flamenco
Vivo, working with an all Spanish troupe. The Naples
News has called Filguieras the “Keeper of Flamenco.”
“Clarita and her dance company bring power and passion
to Southern Spain’s Flamenco dance,” said David Feder,
president of ICE. “Whether you’re a connoisseur of
Flamenco or just a fan of great music, dance and song, Flamenco
Puro will deliver a spellbinding, unforgettable performance.”
The performance will feature three dancers, a guitarist/singer
and a percussionist. Tickets are $30 at the door and $25 in advance
at Upper Keys TIB Bank branches and the Key Largo and Islamorada
Chambers of Commerce.
