"Think of Horowitz mixed with Liberace and an ounce of Victor
Borge, and you’ve got the picture," says the Atlanta
Constitution. “How one man can bring the rafters down in
Symphony Hall as if a full orchestra were playing is a feat in
itself. It’s consummate musicianship. Electrifying!” Billboard
Magazine has called him “an immensely talented pianist.” In
thirty years as an entertainer, he has performed more than 3,000
concerts worldwide. Mac Frampton has recorded 22 albums and a motion
picture soundtrack.

A Keys Favorite Returns -- ICE Presents
Pianist Mac Frampton
ISLAMORADA, Florida Keys – Pianist Mac Frampton and his
trio, extremely popular with Keys concert goers, will perform at
the Coral Shores High School Performing Arts Center on Saturday,
Jan. 17, at 8 p.m., for ICE’s Upper Keys Concert Series.
Frampton, a medal winner in the prestigious Van Cliburn International
Piano Competition while he was working on post graduate studies
at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, has 22 albums to his name.
“Mac Frampton played for us in 1995 and again in 1998 to
rave reviews, and since then, everybody has been clamoring to get
him back for another concert – he’s that good,” said
Susan Gordon, a member of ICE’s Upper Keys Concert Series
committee and the ICE Board of Directors.
Frampton started playing the piano at the age of three, formal
training began at five, and he made his professional debut at eight.
At the Van Cliborn competition, after hearing Frampton play some
improvised pop and jazz with other contestants, Van Cliborn himself
told the pianist to go into music professionally. “With that
kind of endorsement, I had to think seriously about going into
the pop arena,” noted Frampton.
Frampton has played with the Boston Pops, Roberta Flack, Victor
Borge, Louis Nye, the Fifth Dimension, and Metropolitan Opera star
Roberta Peters. In 1995, he founded the Hollywood Hills Orchestra,
a 16-piece ensemble dedicated to the performance of great cinematic
music. To date, he has played more than 3,000 concerts worldwide.
Tickets are $30 at the door and $25 in advance at Upper Keys
TIB Bank branches and the Key Largo and Islamorada Chambers of
Commerce.
ICE (Islamorada Community Entertainment) is a non-profit organization
dedicated to bringing quality entertainment and cultural events
to Upper Keys residents and visitors, and provides musical and
arts scholarships to local students. |
